Notes: Chlōris was a monthly journal that was published by Greek expats for the first time in Constantinople in January 1879. A few months later they printed a monthly appendix in May 1879 with the name Deltion tēs Chloridos. It was named after Chlōris, the nymph or goddess of spring and flowers.
It contained articles about various topics such as education, archaeology, philology, agriculture, tradition, traveling, science, art, community and government matters, statistics, hygiene, household tips, practical advice and also, short stories, poems and jokes.
One of several writers was A. R. Rankavēs, a well-known Phanariōt scholar, poet, writer, Professor of Archaeology, politician and also, the first Greek Ambassador to the U.S. in 1867.
