Notes: Ethnikos Keryx (=American Herald) is a newspaper written in Greek and published in New York from April 2, 1915. The first issue was edited by P. Tatanes, an active member of the Panhellenic Union of America to counter the newspaper Atlantis, which was friendly to the kingship. Tatanes and many Greek Americans of the middle class were supporters of Elephtherios Venizelos. In fact, the first issue included an interview with him. The name of the paper was inspired by the Cretan newspaper Keryx that was supporting Venizelos. The addition Ethnikos was used to show that it addressed all Greek Americans. The newspaper includes articles about politics (American, Greek, but also international), economy, culture and spiritual life but also Greek novels by Greek novelists like G. Xenopoulos. Amongst the writers during those years were K. Palamas, G. Drosines, M. Anninos, K. Ouranis. and others.
