Ζōsimas Esphigmenētēs was a monk and the editor of the journal (1881-1901). He lived in Hagion Οros for many years where he took the nickname Esphigmenētēs. In 1879 he founded the bookstore “Iōlkos,” the first one in the city of Volos. He also founded the first public reading place in Volos called
“Anagnōstērion koinon.” He edited and published many books. He was mostly interested in current affairs, history, archaeology, philology, religion, traveling: that was the content of the journal Promētheus and also of the yearbook ‘Hē phēmē” which he published 1886-1888.
